Skin Rejuvenation Before and After Photos

Skin Rejuvenation Images

The following photos accurately show the type of improvements that are possible with TCA chemical peels, Fraxel SR 1500 treatments, and fractional or full CO2 laser skin rejuvenation.  It was only after critically reviewing my patients over the years (including myself) and studying high definition photographs such as these that I became convinced of the sometimes dramatic but natural rejuvenating effects that can be achieved.

TCA chemical peels are great for decreasing or eliminating superficial pigmentation.  It is somewhat less effective for wrinkles but does improve fine lines, particularly around the eyes.  It can be repeated if more of an improvement is desired. Notice the decreased pigmented spots and improved skin tone and texture.

Fraxel SR1500 Treatment Images

This laser was the first laser to use a 'fractional' delivery system, so that only a fraction of the skin is treated and vastly reducing down time.  It works best on reducing pigment but definitely improves the skin tone and can also be safely used in darker complexions and in areas other than the face. I also like this laser for improving acne scars.  It goes a little deeper than the TCA peel and stimulates the patients own collagen, so that it acts over time a bit like a natural filler. One downside is that this laser requires three or more treatments, but on the upside, the recovery time is minimal. In these photos, notice the reduction of pigmentation and in the facial photo, the improved skin tone.

Fractional CO2 Laser Rejuvenation Images

Although the gold standard for laser skin rejuvenation is still the CO2 laser, the silver standard has become the fractional CO2 laser. As I mention elsewhere on this site, I have developed a method that I believe should become the most commonly used technique for facial skin rejuvenation. In addition to topical anesthesia and oral sedation, I use local anesthesia to completely numb the peri-oral area and the area of the lower lids and crow's feet - everyone's problem areas.  This allows me to use the MiXto laser as a fully ablative laser in these areas and in a fractional mode on the rest of the face or neck.  By carefully adjusting the laser parameters, it is possible to approach the kind of result that one would expect with full CO2 resurfacing, but without the general anesthesia or downtime. Notice the marked improvement in the following photos. You can even hear about the first patient's experience and see her during her recovery by clicking here.

Ablative CO2 Laser Rejuvenation Images

I remember the following patient very well.  Although she had upper eyelid surgery, the improvement in the skin of the lower eyelids was achieved with Ultrapulse CO2 laser resurfacing only.  I'm still amazed every time I look at this photograph and see the dramatic improvement that was also made in the lines of the upper lip and the reduction of pore size. I am absolutely certain that no skin was surgically removed from the lower lids because I never use the laser in skin that has been surgically undermined.  This kind of overall result is seldom (but sometimes) possible with my current fractional technique, but is consistently achieved with ablative CO2 resurfacing - hence the term 'gold standard.' In the next patient notice the reduction in the crow's feet and the deep line in the cheek.
